| Gravity takes it's toll on
us the minute we exit the womb. Initially, it is our friend helping us to
form the dynamic curves of our spine. Eventually, it conquers us if we are
not guided into the architectural intelligence of our own muscular system which
provides stability. As we age, the challenge becomes greater. Primarily
because we begin losing muscle mass at a greater rate than we can produce it.
This postural instability combined with the natural
athleticism of a horse and the laws of physics can become very frustrating
to the beginning to intermediate rider. When constant corrections are
heard without the ability to produce them, frustrations can overwhelm the process.
With a trained eye, joint limitations can be recognized; a regime of stretching
exercises recommended followed by strengthening exercises to maintain the new
posture. Further unmounted strengthening exercises insure the results.
